Two-part Questions IELTS Writing Task Two Essays

Those specific type of essays are easy to detect as you clearly see a line of the prompt with two direct questions written beneath that line.

The structure is pretty straightforward. You just address question number one in the first body paragraph, while the second question is answered in the second body paragraph. Do not change the order of the questions so that you wouldn’t lose marks in the coherence and cohesion criterion of the band descriptor.

Check out the structure and the example essay below.

Global warming is one of the most serious issues that the world is facing today.

What are the causes of global warming?

What measures can governments and individuals take to tackle the issue?

Global warming has become the most alarming environmental issue that every human being needs to promptly take actions to overcome. Although some people believe it is too late, others argue that it is reversible if governments and individuals were to take measures after analyzing the causes of this phenomenon. This essay will highlight the most serious reasons behind global warming, and recommend some countermeasures.

Global warming’s most contributing factor is the persistent emission of CO2. This emission is mainly resulted from burning fossil fuel which is the primary energy source used in factories, transportation, and all other power-needed daily life situations. Therefore, the need for alternative energy sources has arisen; however, due to the high cost of the required research studies, governments do not prioritize the issue over other social, educational, and health problems that they do struggle with. Thus, there is a demand for individuals to take reversing daily actions to halt the consequences of this phenomenon.

As mentioned above, there is a rising necessity to find other sources of energy to save the planet Earth. This, as a matter of fact, is not the only solution to such a life-threatening phenomenon. As well as governments should finance the projects of sustainable energy, regular individuals should participate in those countermeasures by regulating their use of fossil fuel. Reducing the use of unsustainable energy sources by cutting down the use of electricity, and carpooling can change the entire situation.

To conclude, cooperation between all society’s members both officials and average citizens is the key to reversing the negative consequences of this issue. If we were to solve this serious problem, we, all, would need to come together planning and developing measures to instantly sense the results in our daily life.
