These days, it seems that an increasing number of people are leaving rural areas to live in the city.

Discuss some of the effects of rural depopulation (migrating from the country to the city) and suggest some ways in which this trend could be reversed.

Moving from the countryside to the modern, vibrant and full of services cities has become a growing trend. This behavior of depopulation could have some dire consequences which will be thoroughly discussed in the following lines, along with some recommended reversing measures.

Not only do villagers and countryside residents migrating to cities affect the village societies, but also it causes overpopulation in those cities. In reality, this transition creates more crowded cities that are burdened with providing more services and facilities to the new dwellers. As a direct result, services and products offered in these areas are getting more expensive, especially housing. To illustrate, the more people desire of finding a residence, the higher the demand for building new homes gets. Thus, life in those metropolitan cities can be beyond the ability of an average citizen to afford.

On the other hand, there is a number of scenarios to eradicate the negative consequences. One most important solution is for governments to provide more services, facilities and to create more job opportunities as diverse as the city. In turn, this solution leads to the overall development of the whole country. Providing that the citizens of these areas are gratified, a few of them, if any, would leave their hometowns. Hence, it is the responsibility of the local governments to regulate and develop every single distant city in the country.

Having said that, many average citizens are just in continuous search of a better life and life-changing opportunities. So, as long as the place where they live fulfills those constitutional demands, they will be satisfied where they are away from the polluted, overcrowded streets of an urban city.
